Career Search and Education for Career

Career Goals

My career goals is to be a zoologist and get a degree in biology.  A zoologist's job is to to basically study animals.  They can study their structure, function, behavior, evolution and interaction with their environments.  The type of zoology I would want to do is study how animals interact with humans or how they interact in their environments.  This way I would be able to be around animals and see how they live.  If I would go into studying how animals interact in their environments then I would probably need to move to Africa or another country.  This move would be okay with me.  My income would be around $70,000 a year.  Also as you can see below I will need much schooling and experience to be in this field.

Education for Career

To be a zoologist I would need a degree in biology.  Biology is mostly the study of life.  It has many fields that you can specialize in.  Almost every college offers a degree in biology with different fields.  A degree in biology can lead to a variety of career opportunities.  I could work in labs, universities, the government or private companies.

Some careers in biology require a Master's Degree or Ph.D.   To be a zoologist I would need at least a Bachelor's Degree.  Then many years of experience in the field also.  This would include on-the-job training.

My plan to become a zoologist includes the following.  Right now in high school my plan is to get good grades.  And I would try to get a job in the local animal shelters or veterinary clinics.  Then as I get in my junior and senior years I would apply for scholarships to get into a college that specializes in my degree.  Then I would first my bachelor's degree in zoology then my master's degree.  Next I would find a job as a zoologist.
